Religious Education

The Catholic Faith Formation of St. Mary’s Parish, inspired by the love of Jesus Christ, is committed to build a strong Foundation of Faith for the children and youth in the parish.  Faith development begins in the home and parents are the primary teachers and models of our faith. The goal of our religious education program is to assist in the development and growth in their faith, bringing about in our children a deeper knowledge and love of Jesus Christ and drawing our young people into a deeper relationship with God through active participation in the life and ministry of the Church.

Children entering grades one through eight attend Faith Formation classes for one week in the summer with an additional instruction day during both Advent and Lent.

Those students who will be entering grade 9 will be enrolled in the Confirmation II classes. Classes for Confirmation I are scheduled June 25 through 30. Classes for Confirmation II are scheduled July 9 through 14. If you have not received a registration form in the mail, please call or stop by the Office of Religious Education (846-6057). *****************

Children’s Liturgy of the Word is an age-appropriate Liturgy of the Word offered for children at the 9:30 AM Mass on Sundays. All children are welcome and encouraged to attend. All children are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Just before the Liturgy of the Word begins for the assembly, the children are invited to go with the weekly leaders from the Church to the Youth Room (lower level in Church). During this special time, the volunteer teacher leads the children through prayers, songs and readings that are simplified for children. They are taught a simplified main message and are encouraged to share that message with their parents after Mass. The children return to their family to celebrate Liturgy of the Eucharist together.
